Nobelium PropertiesProperties
At the beginning, Nobelium was studies only in atomic quantities in 1967 in USSR. In water solvent the oxidation potential of No3+/No2+ is between -1.4 -1.5V. By frontal gas chromatography it was shown, that Nobelium can form non-vapor chloride. In acidic solutions Nobelium ion can be suspended by BaSO4 and cannot be suspended by LaF3. In ion-exchange and extraction chromatography Nobelium behave more similarly to the Be2+, Mg2+, Ca2+, Cr2+, Ba2+ and Ra2+ and therefore can be easily separated from lanthanides and actinides. No2+ can be oxidized to No3+ by Bromine-, IO4- and SO5-ions.
